At the OAANY's annual general meeting (AGM), current officers presented membership and financial reports to the assembled group of Oxford alumni. We also elected committee members and officers for the 2002 - 2003 year. After the AGM, Oxford alumni were invited to attend a wine and cheese reception. During the reception, alumni who were interested in becoming more involved in the Association had time to discuss volunteer opportunities with the officers and committee members.

Back by popular demand, following the success of our last wine tasting at Morrells, this time we headed to the Morrell & Company Wine Store for a Spanish evening. The room was filled to capacity with alumni and their guests who enjoyed a wide variety of Spanish wines and a selection of delicious tapas from Solera, the renowned Spanish restaurant in Midtown. We were entertained with live flamenco music. Oxford alumni were joined by alumni from the London School of Economics, allowing everyone to catch up with old friends and make new ones.

Thanks to a generous invitation from Cambridge in America, Oxford alumni were able to join Cambridge University alumni for a walking tour of art galleries in Chelsea - the new hotbed of contemporary art. Kathryn Markel of Kathryn Markel Fine Arts guided us through some of Chelsea's best art galleries. Alumni and their guests had the opportunity to spend an afternoon learning about what's happening in the art world, what's selling, and why. The tour ended with drinks at Kathryn's gallery, allowing those who attended to exchange views and ideas about what they had seen.

Wednesday, May 8, 2002

A capacity crowd of young alumni from Oxford and the London School of Economics enjoyed another in our popular series of young alumni evenings. It was standing room only for late-comers as Oxford and LSE alumni split into groups of four for a little friendly competition in the form of a pub quiz. Each team collectively answered trivia questions of varying difficulty on a range of topics, while enjoying drinks and pub food. Prizes were awarded to the top three teams as well as for the funniest wrong answers.
